Potential Projects

Recreation.

Over the next three to five years, each of the Jameson baseball fields, where the Dover-Sherborn Youth Baseball and Softball leagues play, will require renovations that will cost an estimated $50,000-$100,000 per field. The largest field, Jameson 4, was approved for capital funding at the 2024 Annual Town Meeting (and would have been eligible for CPA funding), but the other fields will also need renovating in upcoming years.

History.

The Sherborn History Museum, which the town is legally obligated to house in a town building, needs a new home on the lower level of the Sherborn Library. While the cost of that project is still an unknown, it would be eligible for CPA funds.

Open space.

Farm Pond, the jewel of Sherborn, is slated for a major project to improve the access path from the parking lot to the waterside. The project is already in the design phase, but construction is estimated to cost somewhere around $200,000. This project would be eligible for CPA funding.

Community housing.

While the town has created an Affordable Housing Trust, there is currently zero balance in the trust fund itself. CPA would be a way to begin saving money in the Affordable Housing Trust in order to spur future development of town-owned subsidized housing. One such existing development, Woodhaven Elder Housing Complex, is a great success with a wait list on available rental units. A second similar housing complex would help increase the amount of affordable housing that is needed in town.
